In 1977, The Fifth Season opened as a specialty
mountaineering and backcountry ski shop in Mt. Shasta City. With Mt. Shasta in our back yard, it was a perfect
place to combine our play with work. We've lived a fantasy helping mountaineers, and working in one of the
best ski and climbing areas in the world. Since 1977, The Fifth Season has serviced and outfitted climbers
and skiers that venture on to Mt. Shasta's slopes as well as Alaska, South America, the Himalaya, and Canada.
We make certain The Fifth Season is everything we would want when we are visitors to other mountains. We're
proud of our reputation as one of the leading climbing and ski shops, and are committed to keeping you
comfortable and safe in the mountains. We are motivated by our passion for the mountains and traditional aesthetics of alpinism: solitude, challenge, camaraderie, beauty and self reliance. Though we consider ourselves tradionalists, we are among the first to test, and if proven, embrace new technologies that make the mountains safer, and more comfortable. We find adventure in the spontaneous outings in our local crags and powder stashes as well as the long anticipated, planned, travels to Alaska, South America and Europe. We gladly share your love of the mountains, the energy of storms, the peace and exhilaration of a perfect powder run, and the sewing machine legs of a long run-out. We often joke of our limited IQ that keeps us doing the same thing for more than a quarter of a century. In fact, it is never the same. Each of us has a different foot, body shape, athleticism, and dream. It's our job to help you realize that dream, no matter how modest or extreme it may be. | |
